The world of Tibetan music, dance and drama
"There are very few written documents on Tibetan performing arts. In the old times, this art was taught by oral instructions. Many of them only performed or practised during the festivals, at gatherings. There were not any institutions where people would study (perf. arts) in particular. In this refugee society, because many people are busy on the issues of the recovery of the Tibetan rights, people canít get as much time as we did before for happy gatherings. On one hand, in Tibet, the enemies destroyed all of Tibetan culture and are still doing so. It is hardly recognisable. On the other hand, many older artists were getting old and passed away. Thus, this art is facing extinction. So I think that it is very important to write down as much as possible about Tibetan traditional arts."
